Activities
From Killala to Bangor Erris, the North Mayo coastline has a plethora of sandy beaches - Ross Beach, the closest, is a well-maintained Blue Flag beach and just five minutes drive/15 minutes cycle from the village with lifeguard, picnic facilities and shower/WC. All along the coast are hidden strands and secret coves, just waiting to be discovered. A little time is all that's required to find them....
Or if you prefer dry land, there are some wonderful walks and hill climbs around North Mayo. Trek through such beauty spots as Port Urlin and Portacloy.  Climb the cliffs and rocky headlands to get a new perspective on the beauty that is all around.  We have a local tour guide available for guided walks.

Fishing
As a traditional fishing port, Killala is ideal for the fisherman/woman looking for a few day's angling. There are two registered boat owners available to take groups out deep sea angling. With over thirty species in the Bay, a varied catch is guaranteed. Killala and its environs are also ideal for coarse, river and lake fishing and the River Moy, which runs through Ballina, is world-renowned for salmon fishing. Check out North West Fisheries for more information.  If you would like to pre-book a boat for deep sea angling, just call Liz and she will organise it for you.  Or why not take a family evening trip out on the Bay, enjoying the sunset and maybe hooking a few mackerel to cook later on the barbeque?

Foraging
Cockles and mussels can be picked locally (in season) and sea vegetables are abundant.  Foraging walks can be organised with our local tour guide.  Just ask Liz.

Golfing
Killala is an ideal base for golfers  with Enniscrone Golf Links offering spectacular scenery and a battery of world class interesting and challenging holes.  Likewise, Carne Golf Links at Belmullet (voted one of the top 5 Irish Links by Golfworld Ireland in 2002) boasts vast dunes, unbelievable scenic views of Blacksod Bay and islands and excellent golf.  Ballina Golf Course is an inviting 18 Hole parkland course situated on the outskirts of Ballina town, while Strandhill and Westport golf clubs are within an hour's drive.
